Hosting An Omelet Party

I want to do a retirement breakfast at work, and a I want to use the boil in the bag omelet method. How do you keep water boiling without a stove? a sterno, crockpot, or chafing dish? Has anyone done this? How do caterers do portable omelet parties?

I suppose that such methods leave out of the question fluffy omelets. I wonder, though, if somebody knows how to make fluffy omelet in a ziploc bag, as that would really be a surprise for all my colleagues.

Are you serious? This sounds so difficult. Why not just have a catered party with hors d’ouevres and be done with it.

Probably the easiest and cheapest would be a large pot and a hot plate or electric burner. You might need more than one of these set ups. Don’t use a pot that is much larger than the size of the burner.
You might also be able to use a steam table. You might be able to rent one from a party or catering supply company. These are the things that you put the chafing dishes in to to keep the hot, like when you go to Panda Express or a buffet – the dishes are placed in pans that go over the hot water to keep them hot. I believe that they can get hot enough to boil water.
A chafing dish is heated by a sterno can, and might not be strong enough to maintain a boil for long enough to cook that many omelets. The same goes for a crock pot.
