Reading books has never been easier than these days. Thanks to electronic book readers, we can now read everywhere. Amongst such reading devices, Amazon Kindle was one of the most appreciated and the most bought worldwide. Maybe that’s because Amazon has a huge offer of electronic books, available for download directly on the book reader.
The latest gadget, with enhanced capabilities and features is Kindle: Amazon’s 6″ Wireless Reading Device (Latest Generation). This new version is much better than the previous one, in terms of ergonomy, usability and enhanced features which offer users a better experience. The new wireless Kindle is as thin as a newspaper and it can hold about 1500 books in its memory. One thing that I feel has improved over the previous version of Amazon Kindle is the display: now the readability is excellent, it really feels like reading true books. It’s also highly adjustable, thanks to the 16 shades of gray.
My kids were very amused of the new text-to-speech feature which can turn the reading device into an audio book. I’m not very fond of that, because I find those voices a bit artificial, but I must admit it’s great if you want to listen to books while driving or when your eyes are very tired.
One of the features that I’ve appreciated most was the battery life, which is about 25% longer than the one of the first Amazon Kindle device. Now I can use it for several days without having to recharge it.
At $299, this wireless electronic books reading device is an excellent buy. However, if you can afford a bigger budget, you can go for the Amazon Kindle DX, which has a bigger screen (9.7″), native pdf visualization and the storage capacity of 3500 electronic books. Both devices allow you to read the first chapter of books in the Amazon Kindle store without paying. If you don’t like the book, you don’t have to buy it.
